What I've been working on recently
Participatory Action Research
The cost of living is rising in all areas of Scotland, creating many challenges and changes in life for residents. According to a recent BBC News report entitled Cost of living crisis: ‘We’re not really living any more’, residents are experiencing changes in their daily entertainment spending as a result of changes in the structure of consumer distribution.
The overall aim of this research is to identify new ways of engaging residents of Scottish urban communities facing the cost of living crisis.
Through this research, community members will gain new ways to empower themselves, explore the available resources, and be inspired to participate in their communities to face the pressures of the cost of living crisis.

As a postgraduate student at Glasgow School of Art, I spent my first semester at postgraduate level undertaking research into Participatory Action Research.
I completed my dissertation on Participatory Action Research (PAR) through reading papers, case studies and discussions with my PhD supervisor. Here you will find a trimmed version of my dissertation, as well as the images I produced.
Participatory action research is a form of action research in which practitioners engage subject-related people as collaborators in the research process to shape the research process, methods and theories. Participatory action research (PAR) is different from action research in several aspects.
We get involved in nature and with people to understand nature as they see it. Through a ‘critical development’ model, we have designed a service system for young people to experience nature. Through this service system we aim to engage them in a more experiential and reflective approach to nature.
The impacts of Climate Change are being felt all around the world and its species, humans included, need theplanet to stop warming. It adversely affects our food systems, our health and wellbeing and the flora and faunawith which we share our world and our engagement or experiences of and with them. This relates to ourdomestic environment as well as our parks, green spaces, waterways and other natural surroundings.
With such a complex global issue, we get involved in nature and with people to understand nature as they see it.
